Review: Is the Powell Case the Best iPhone 6s Case for Drops?
By Todd Bernhard on Fri, 01/08/2016
I don’t envy the iPhone case designers. After seven-plus years of smartphones, it must be hard to come up with a novel design that hasn’t been seen before. However, Lander has done just that with its Powell Case ($39.95), which easily stands out among protective iPhone 6s cases. Every aspect of the case is distinctive without being superfluous. The sides have a textured grip that makes it easy to hold and hard to drop, making it an excellent choice if you are looking for a drop-proof iPhone 6s case. The bottom has generous openings to accommodate most docking stations and cables, even those that are thicker than Apple’s official cable. Likewise the speaker and microphone and mute switch are not obstructed.
The back of the case is the most distinctive part with a two-tone finish and elements that are reminiscent of a race car accelerator and clutch pedals or a military flashlight or canteen. It’s quite unusual and attention-grabbing. Even the interior of the case has its own texture, a diagonal ribbed pattern that should dissipate energy in the event of a drop. It’s on the pricier side of cases, but you get what you pay for.
- Creative use of textures
- Nice selection of colors (black, white, red or blue)
- Generous openings for ports and cables
- A bit on the pricey side
I was really impressed by Lander’s use of textures and colors in the Powell drop-proof iphone 6s case, and I think you will be too.
